Ultra-energy saving potential
Passivhaus buildings have a very low heating requirement, achieved through mainly passive measures - excellent insulation, triple glazed windows, airtight spaces, no thermal bridges, ventilation and heat recovery. By improving the build quality Passivhaus achieves an excellent indoor comfort with no draughts, condensation or mould, and temperatures that are comfortable in both summer and winter.
Expected to eventually save up to 70% on annual energy cost the landmark building is a grand design and has been modelled to withstand predicted change in climate up to 2080. Building biology is at the forefront of its design principle, and due to the selection of materials and design of the internal environment, customers can enjoy improved air quality, optimal air temperatures, and natural lighting.
Plus, due to the ground breaking ultrafiltration and UV process the pools will have exceptional water quality which require minimal chemical content, greatly improving the experience for swimmers.
Features & Facilities
St Sidwell’s Point will be run directly by our in-house Exeter Leisure team for the benefit of all residents in Exeter.
With the opening date now right around the corner, we’ve highlighted our favourite parts about the new building.
There are three swimming pools
St Sidwell’s Point will feature three pools; a 25 metre, 8 lane competition pool, a 20 metre learner pool (both of which have moveable floors allowing for a range of depth to suite different activities) and also a confidence splash pool. Overlooking the pools is also a 100 seat spectator area.
The gym has over 100 stations
The state of the art gym at St Sidwell’s Point will have over 100 stations, a designated free weights area, plus group exercise zones – including an indoor cycling studio and two fitness studios.
You can relax and unwind at the spa
We all deserve a little pampering and the rooftop spa won’t fail to deliver with its sauna, saunarium, salt vapour room, whirlpool, hot beds, foot spas and more. Not to mention the four treatment rooms plus private bar and relaxation lounge.
Parents will be able to enjoy a bit of ‘me time’
The brand new centre will feature its own crèche – perfect for when you want to take some time for yourself within the pool or gym. There will also be a soft play area to burn off some extra steam.
You can grab a bite to eat
After you’ve built up your appetite during your workout or swim, you’ll be able to grab a coffee and bit to eat with a visit the on-site café.
