Conditions of Use

EXETER LEISURE CONDITIONS OF USE

  1. FACILITIES
  2. We reserve the right to withdraw all or any part of our facilities for short periods of time to carry out routine maintenance and deep cleaning.
  3. We will always strive to give members advance warning of these times (where possible) and no refunds will apply in these circumstances provided they occur no more than 10 times in any 12 month period.
  4. If the centre is closed for more than 7 days in a row and we do not provide another facility (this may be a facility with fewer services or a temporary facility) we will refund a percentage of your membership fee which relate to the period that the centre was closed, but not including the first 7 days.
  5. This does not apply if we permanently close a whole facility (for example, the pool, gym, studio or tennis facilities), or if we have to close the facility due to reasons outside our control. 

 

  1. RESPECT FOR OTHERS
  2. Exeter Leisure will not accept any abusive, threatening or violent behaviour towards our staff/other members.
  3. We will pursue prosecution of anyone who assaults or intimidates a member of our team. 
  4. Photographs/videos are not permitted in our facilities and we ask that no remarks are posted on the internet that may identify another member.

 

  1. HEALTH AND SAFETY
  2. If you have a medical condition that may affect your safety, you must inform the receptionist immediately upon arrival.
  3. If you or a member of your household are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 you and they must follow the latest government guidelines on isolation and reporting and not come to the centre until it is safe to do so.
  4. At all times you must conform to the displayed instructions and any instructions given by staff regarding social distancing, the use and cleaning of equipment, the use of the swimming pool and other areas inside or outside at the facilities.
  5. Facilities users are responsible for their own health and safety and should conduct their activities in a safe manner at all times so as to not impact on the health and safety of themselves or others when on the premises.
  6. You are required to wear clean, suitable and regularly checked footwear for the activity being undertaken.
  7. Admission may be refused to any person who is considered to pose a danger either to themselves or to others.  
  8. In the event of an accident or incident, you must inform a member of our team immediately. 
  9. Property that is brought into our centres is entirely at the persons own risk, Exeter City Council takes no responsibility for lost or stolen items.
  10. We advise that you bring a bottle of water with you to keep hydrated while exercising.
  11. Attendees are not permitted to bring any of their own gym equipment (for example resistance bands) into the gym with them.

 

  1. SWIMMING POOL
  2. Please follow all instructions provided by our staff team.
  3. Outdoor footwear is not permitted to be worn in the pool hall at any time.
  4. Customers must follow the centre’s designated adult to child swim ratios.
  5. Armbands, buoyancy aids and floats will not be provided to customers for hire.
  6. Diving is only permitted in designated areas. Do not dive into shallow water.
  7. In the event of an emergency, you must clear the swimming pool and follow the instructions provided by the lifeguards.
  8. Do not swim for at least 48 hours after suffering vomiting or diarrhoea or swim for 14 days after diarrhoea symptoms have stopped if you have been told you have cryptosporidium.
  9. Swim nappies must be worn for any children who are not toilet trained.
  10. Children under the age of 8 years must be directly supervised in the water by their parent or a responsible person aged at least 18 years.
  11. Weak/non-swimmers are restricted to areas of the pool with water depth less than 1.5m. We strongly recommend that non swimmers use armbands and/or an appropriate buoyancy aid. A non-swimmer is someone who cannot swim 25 metres unaided and tread water for 30 seconds.
  12. Babies, small children or toddlers must not be left unsupervised in carriers or
    pushchairs at the side of the pool.  Pushchairs should be left in the reception area.
  13. Whilst there is no lower age limit that babies will be allowed into the pool, parents should be made aware that children under the age of 6 months may be susceptible to the effects of water temperature and pool chemicals. Parents may wish to take some guidance from their Health Visitor before taking their child for their first swim at such an age.
  14. Junior members under the age of 8 may change in either the changing village or Family Bubble changing room under adult supervision.
  15. Junior members aged 8-15 years may change in either changing room.

 

  1. SWIMMING LESSONS
  2. In the interest of Health and Safety parents are not permitted onto poolside, except where specific sessions require the attendance of a parent/ guardian.
  3. Where considered necessary Exeter Leisure reserves the right to change programme details, i.e. day, time, course, instructors. Efforts will be made to give prior notice, although this cannot be guaranteed.
  4. Approximately 5 minutes per lesson will be allocated to the administration of registration and achievement records for participants. Please arrive on time or just before the swimming lesson start time.
  5. All places booked on the swimming lesson programme must be paid for in advance and therefore, enrolment cannot be taken without prior payment.

 

  1. TEEN SPORTS
  2. Rackets can be hired/borrowed these rackets will be sanitised before and after use.
  3. Any deliberate damage to equipment must be reimbursed by the person/persons who caused the damage.
  4. Juniors must stay on assigned junior courts
  5. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or carer 
  6. Only the track and long jump may be used as part of the junior membership
  7. The track and ancillary areas will be available during public sessions.
  8. All sessions must be booked in advance.
  9. A maximum of 6mm spikes can be worn on the track surface
  10. The centre field must not be used as a short cut to the other side of the track.
  11. All warming up should be done of the track area in the designated area.
  12. Lanes 1 & 2 Should only be used for jogging or rest periods. Lanes 3 & 4 to be used for timed runs in excess of 120 metres. Lanes 6-10 can be used for sprints
  13. No Running on the bowls green
  14. Appropriate footwear must be worn on the bowls green
  15. No Food or beverages to be consumed in the bowls rink area

 

  1. TEEN GYM
  2. Teen gym sessions are for those between the ages of 11-16.
  3. Junior members can only attend designated teen gym sessions which are supervised by a member of staff and must be pre-booked in advance.
  4. Prior to attending any Teen Gym sessions all teens are required to undertake a gym induction with a member of the fitness team, these inductions should be booked in advance by contacting the site in which your child wishes to attend.
  5. A maximum number of 6 junior members are permitted per any one teen gym session
  6. Junior members will not have access to the weights/pump room or Queenax room
  7. The equipment and facilities must be used in a safe manner and in accordance with the training and guidance given by a qualified member of staff. No equipment or facilities should be used if guidance or training has not been received.
  8. Some of the gym equipment will not be suitable for teen gym sessions. Each site has different equipment, therefore the Fitness Instructor will discuss which pieces aren’t suitable during the induction and will ensure that any unsuitable equipment is not being used by teens during these sessions.
